Late fees are added on the 16th day of delinquency. Banks charge a non-negotiable funds (NNF) fee whenever they must return a payment for reasons which include, but are not limited to, insufficient funds, stop payment, or incorrect account information.

A 1% charge is assessed at the time the loan is made. A 3% charge is assessed at the time the loan is originated on GradPLUS or Parent PLUS Loans.

Interest that has accrued on your loans and has not been paid after your grace period ends on unsubsidized Stafford and on GradPLUS and Parent PLUS Loans, at the end of a deferment on unsubsidized Stafford Loans, or after a forbearance ends, may be capitalized (added to the principal balance).
